Ear Infection Control
There are several types of ear infections, the most common being infections of the inner ear (also known as otitis interna or labyrinthitis), infections of the middle ear (otitis media or chloesteatoma) and infections of the outer ear (otitis externa or swimmer’s ear). These can lead to symptoms like ear pain and ear discharge, among others.

Chloesteatoma

Brain abscess
Chloesteatoma is a type of skin cyst that forms in the middle ear and skull bone. Surgery may be performed to treat this condition, which if left untreated, may give rise to complications such as brain abscess (a situation where pus and immune cells accumulate in the brain).Learn more about these symptoms in the Ask Our Doctors section.
