Ear Pain
Pain or aches in the ear (also known as earache) can arise from infections, especially in the outer and middle ear. At times, it can also be due to serious conditions such as malignant otitis externa (outer ear infection) and certain cancers.
What are my treatment options?
Common ear infections are normally treated in our centre by thorough cleaning (aural toilet) under the microscopy and with the application of appropriate medications. There are times when ear pain is due to referred pain from irritation of nerves supplying the ear from other ENT regions. In such cases, a careful evaluation is required. If you experience ear pain that persists for more than a few days, it is essential to seek medical attention from an ear nose throat specialist to identify and treat the underlying cause.
