Clinical focus
Ear disorders in both children & adults, hearing loss, giddiness/vertigo, tinnitus, ear infections, blocked ear, Eustachian tube disorders, tumours relating to the ear

Procedure focus
Hearing restoration surgery, cochlear and other ear implants, repair of eardrum perforations (tympanoplasty), mastoidectomy to control ear infections and diseases, surgeries to remove ear tumours such as cancers, acoustic neuroma, skull base lesions, surgery to alleviate giddiness/vertigo, facial nerve decompression & reconstruction for facial palsy, surgery for absent or narrowed ear canal

Background
Dr Low is an Ear Nose & Throat (ENT) specialist with 25 years of experience and specialises in treating ear disorders in both children and adults.

Currently Adjunct Associate Professor at the NUS-Duke Graduate Medical School and Visiting Consultant to Singapore General Hospital (SGH), he served as Head of SGH’s ENT Department from 1998 to 2005 and Director of its Centre for Hearing and Ear Implants until he left for private practice in 2012. As Visiting Specialist to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, he ran weekly clinics to manage children with various ENT conditions.

A nominee for National Outstanding Clinician in the inaugural National Medical Excellence Award in 2008, he has performed more than 500 cochlear implant surgeries including the first pediatric cochlear implant in Singapore. With a PhD degree, he is interested in research that can improve treatment outcomes. He has shared his own research findings and huge clinical experience through more than 70 publications, mainly in international journals/books. An interest in the role of Traditional Chinese Medicine in modern ENT practice has led him to a Diploma in Acupuncture.

Dr Low has contributed to the training and education of many ENT doctors. He is founding member and  President of the ASEAN Academy of Neuro-otology and Audiology and has served as Chairman of Singapore’s Specialist Training Committee, Director of Singhealth’s ENT Residency Program and President of the Singapore Otorhinolaryngology Society.

Dr Low also sets aside time for volunteerism. He is the President of the Singapore Association for the Deaf and goes on overseas missions to help needy patients.
