Surgery for Turbinate Reduction

Surgery for Turbinate Reduction

On each side of the nose, there are three turbinates (the inferior, middle and superior) which work together to clean and humidify the air we breathe. An enlarged turbinate, however, may cause nasal obstruction and affect normal breathing. In such cases, turbinate reduction procedures may be performed to reduce the size of the turbinate, decrease airway resistance and improve overall nasal breathing. These include:

  • Inferior turbinoplasty
  • Radiofrequency reduction of inferior turbinates
